Volunteer Organizations
One of the best ways to meet people and learn more about Nova Scotia is to volunteer. The province is home to a variety of volunteer and not-for-profit organizations. Some organizations support the needy or disadvantaged, while others work to improve and protect the environment, or celebrate the diverse cultures that call Nova Scotia home.
To find volunteer organizations in your area, check the Community Profiles section. Ask friends about organizations to which they belong, and search the Internet for Nova Scotia-based volunteer groups. Once you find a group you’d like to join, simply contact them and offer to help. Most organizations can always use more volunteers. If you’re not sure about volunteering, ask to attend a meeting, where you can learn more about the organization and its activities.
